What is the process of renovating my bathroom?

As each renovation is different, the exact process will change every time, but the general phases can be broken up like so:

  Phase 1 - Design

This is arguably the most important step of the entire bathroom renovation process, so it shouldn’t be rushed. In this phase, during your free quote and consultation, you will be able to choose all materials, have any questions answered, and plan your perfect bathroom renovation. If you would like to take a more hands off approach and have our expert team design your bathroom to your tastes, we are more than happy to do that as well!

  Phase 2 - Preparation

During this phase our team will begin the strip-out of old plumbings, fittings and start plotting new plumbing and electrical points, if any. Any cement slabs or major layout changes will be made in this stage, setting the stage for the rest of the project.

  Phase 3 - Waterproofing

Best Melbourne Bathrooms works to and exceeds the Australian Standards 3740 - 2004 for waterproofing. We will never ever cut corners, and make sure to thoroughly apply a polyurethane membrane to the floor area and 100 mm on the walls. This stage can take a few days, as the waterproofing has to be 100% dry before any more work can begin. During this phase, we may also sheet your walls and ceiling.

  Phase 4 - Tiling

Tiling - our favourite phase! This is where the fruits of our labour and your investment really starts to show! Using the tiles you chose in Phase 1, we will begin the tiling phase of your bathroom. Some clients love the floor to ceiling tiles, others have different tastes - but that’s the beauty of this phase - every bathroom looks different.

  Phase 5 - Trades

In this phase our tradespeople come through and expertly finish your bathroom’s plumbing, electrics and painting requirements. This is where your bathroom project really begins to shine and you can start imagining using your new bathroom for years to come!

  Phase 6 - Cleaning

Our cleaning team comes through and applies all finishing touches to your bathroom renovation making sure it’s 100% ready for you to enjoy! Any minor accessories may also be installed during this final phase.
